Hello, there! And, welcome to…

drum roll, please…

(Re)writing BoDieS Through Boxes

A Virtual (Re)imagining of the US Census Survey

This performance project tries to the activate the body and practices of embodiment into a recent wave of interdisciplinary research that works to become aware of the uses, benefits, and limitations of representation and cultural identifiers.

This (re)imagined Census survey activates the body as an archive of knowledge into a performative survey in order to research three main questions:

  • how does tracing the production of collective identities through the Census impact the body?

  • How does the way we see and call ourselves shape our bodies and our bodies’ sense of responsibility towards one another?

  • How can the body more intentionally shape the ways we want to see and call ourselves in the future?

Get Bodied: Introduction

Throughout the website I will offer guided movement practices that allow us to get grounded in the body.

Each insert will look like this black image caption box next to an image of my own experience interacting with this practice.

In order to participate, click on the “Listen” button below to hear a guided body centered practice.
